Summer Camps for Horse Lovers, with or without riding

The Mystical Horse

Youths explore the mystical nature of horses through stories and folklore, form a relationship with a horse, and learn to groom, interact, and ride parade-style. Participants end the week by telling their own horse stories while showing their horses in costumes they have created. Horses inspire confidence, focus, and creativity.

Alternative & Conventional Horse Care

Learn how to meet horses’ needs at different times of year, incorporating aromatherapy, herbs, homeopathy, massage, and stretching. Improve a horse’s performance from the ground with round pen, lunging, long-lining, and work-in-hand. Understand a horse’s individual abilities and choose appropriate activities to benefit the riding partnership.

At least one year of prior experience with horses required. No need to own a horse.

Intro to Dressage

This camp is for intermediate or experienced riders interested in learning to ride with greater finesse and a stronger, more feeling connection to the horse. Learn about methods of classical dressage and how to apply them in a fun and effective way. Participants will practice figures and lateral movement to improve the athleticism, accuracy, and balance of both horse and rider.

For riders of all disciplines. Must be able to walk, trot, and canter independently.

Kids’ Riding Quest

Working with horses builds relationship skills and confidence. Camp activities include grooming and handling, bonding games, and individual rides. During riding exercises, students will navigate an obstacle course with one-on-one support from the instructor and team support from classmates.

5-day camps in July and August for ages 6-10

Youth Riding and Horsemanship

Students learn basic skills necessary to begin riding and handling horses safely and with confidence. Methods of grooming, leading, saddling, and mounting will be practiced. Riding exercises will be developed according to the needs of students in the group.

5-day camps in July and August for ages 11-19

Half days: 9:00-12:00 $150
Full days: 9:00-3:00 $275

Horse Training and Care

Learn how to care for and keep a horse, including daily responsibilities, annual medical routines, first aid, and horse training practices. Students of all levels are welcome; no need to own a horse.
